The Air District is issuing a Health Advisory and Spare the Air Alert today, Tuesday 10/10/2017. Very unhealthy air quality from the wildfires in the North Bay is causing unprecedented levels of air pollution throughout the Bay Area.

The Air District has fined subsidiaries of Kinder Morgan, Inc., an energy infrastructure company that operates pipelines and fuel terminals throughout North America, $226,990 for air quality violations at two fuel terminals, one in Richmond and another in San Jose. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for Friday, September 25, due to possible wildfire smoke impacts in the North and East Bay. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Sunday, August 20. Smoke from numerous fires in northern California is impacting air quality over far northwestern California. Wind patterns are helping to keep smoke away from the Bay Area today through most of the day on Sunday. However, some smoke is predicted to reach the North Bay by late Sunday afternoon, causing air quality to reach low-Moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible in the North Bay and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Thursday, August 5, and Friday, August 6. Smoke from the McFarland, Monument, and River Complex fires are expected to impact the North Bay and East Bay, but the smoke is aloft and is not expected to cause unhealthy air quality. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for today, Saturday, May 21. Smoke from the Owens Fire is expected to impact the North Bay, northern East Bay, San Francisco and the Peninsula but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to smoke for Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Smoke from prescribed fires near Pescadero may impact air quality along the Peninsula – south of San Francisco and north of San Jose. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Sunday, August 8. Smoke from the McFarland, Monument, Dixie, and River Complex fires is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North Bay and East Bay. The smoke is aloft above 1,500 feet and is not expected to cause widespread unhealthy air quality across the Bay Area. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Saturday, August 7. Smoke from the McFarland, Monument, and River Complex fires is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North Bay and East Bay. The smoke is aloft above 1,500 feet and is not expected to cause widespread unhealthy air quality across the Bay Area. 

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke through Sunday, August 30, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Wildfire smoke from the numerous fires inside and outside of the Bay Area will continue to cause elevated levels of smoke pollution over the weekend in localized portions of the North Bay and Santa Clara County near the fires.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, July 11. Smoke from the Washburn Fire is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area and is expected to impact the North and East Bay regions. However, pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the federal health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is expected to be in the moderate range.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for Wednesday, July 15, due to smoke from the Mineral Fire that started Monday evening in Fresno County. Smoke from the fire is expected to impact the Bay Area starting tomorrow morning when winds are predicted to shift, bringing smoke into the South Bay and moving north later Wednesday. Smoke will likely remain aloft, resulting in smoky, hazy skies but ground-level air quality is not expected to be impacted. 

The Air District is issuing a Health Advisory & Spare the Air Alert through Wednesday, October 18, due to unpredictable air quality in the Bay Area. Unhealthy air quality from the wildfires continues to plague the North Bay counties as well as other parts of the Bay Area. Due to active wildfires and changing wind patterns, air quality throughout the Bay Area could be impacted for many days to come. Outside of the active fire areas, air quality will be variable and unpredictable.

The Air  District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Thursday, August 12. Northerly winds are expected to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Friday, August 13. Northerly winds will continue to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, September 15. Wildfires across Northern California continue to produce smoke, which is being transported southward towards the Bay Area. As a result, hazy and smoky conditions are predicted on Wednesday, especially for communities in the North Bay. At the surface level, onshore winds are expected to keep air quality in the moderate AQI category. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Monday, October 28, for the entire region. Currently, smoke from the Kincade Fire and other local fires is mostly being pushed over the Pacific Ocean due to strong winds or is aloft over the region – localized impacts closest to the fire continue. However, winds are expected to shift to the northwest starting Monday afternoon and smoke is expected to impact the entire Bay Area, especially the North Bay, San Francisco and the East Bay.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, August 18. Smoke from the Northern California wildfires is expected to again impact the Bay Area on Wednesday. Onshore winds are expected to shift to strong north/northeast winds in the Sacramento Valley, pushing smoke into the Bay Area. Smoke impacts are forecast to be more widespread than last week. Air quality is expected to be in the mid to high-moderate range and not exceed the federal health standard, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.
