The Air District is holding the first open house in Redwood City this Thursday to present and get public input on potential new control measures and strategies that may be included in the 2016 Clean Air Plan/Regional Climate Protection Strategy. The meeting will also offer an opportunity for the public to learn about proposed revisions to the Air District’s New Source Review of Toxic Air Contaminants rule.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Friday, July 19. Smoke from fires in Northern California is expected to impact the Bay Area on Friday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map.

Smoke from the Pedro Fire is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Wednesday. Hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible at high elevations. Air quality is expected to be in the Moderate category on the Air Quality Index.
