The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, July 11. Smoke from the Washburn Fire is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area and is expected to impact the North and East Bay regions. However, pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the federal health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is expected to be in the moderate range.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Sunday, August 20. Smoke from numerous fires in northern California is impacting air quality over far northwestern California. Wind patterns are helping to keep smoke away from the Bay Area today through most of the day on Sunday. However, some smoke is predicted to reach the North Bay by late Sunday afternoon, causing air quality to reach low-Moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible in the North Bay and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved allocating $4 million in Community Air Protection Incentives funding to support home and school air filtration programs in Bay Area communities at their June 4 meeting. As part of this initiative, the Air District Board authorized up to $1.3 million of upgrades in public schools in Richmond, North Richmond, San Pablo, and Tara Hills. An additional $1.7 million will be used to expand air filtration upgrades in schools in Bayview-Hunters Point in San Francisco, and $1 million will be allocated to the Air District’s Home Air Filtration program.

Northerly winds are expected to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Friday, August 13. Northerly winds will continue to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, September 15. Wildfires across Northern California continue to produce smoke, which is being transported southward towards the Bay Area. As a result, hazy and smoky conditions are predicted on Wednesday, especially for communities in the North Bay. At the surface level, onshore winds are expected to keep air quality in the moderate AQI category. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, July 25. Smoke from the Oak Fire in Mariposa County is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area on Monday, however, the smoke is expected to remain aloft. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, August 18. Smoke from the Northern California wildfires is expected to again impact the Bay Area on Wednesday. Onshore winds are expected to shift to strong north/northeast winds in the Sacramento Valley, pushing smoke into the Bay Area. Smoke impacts are forecast to be more widespread than last week. Air quality is expected to be in the mid to high-moderate range and not exceed the federal health standard, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 16. Smoke from Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires continues to impact the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher altitude locations in the North and East Bay mountains and coastal regions down towards the Santa Cruz Mountains. Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 29. Smoke from the Rum Creek Fire in southwest Oregon and the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in northwest California is expected to impact the Bay Area through Monday. Elevated air pollution levels are likely. However, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard, and a Spare the Air Alert is not in effect. Smoky, hazy skies will be visible and the smell of smoke is expected to be present within the Bay Area.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Wednesday, July 27. Winds are forecast to transport smoke from the Oak Fire in Mariposa County into the Bay Area through Wednesday; however, the smoke is expected to remain aloft. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations. Air quality is forecast to be in the good to moderate range on the air quality index and pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Thursday, July 28. Winds are continuing to transport smoke from the Oak Fire in Mariposa County into the Bay Area; however, smoke is expected to remain aloft. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations. Air quality is forecast to be in the good to moderate range on the air quality index and pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for Friday, September 25, due to possible wildfire smoke impacts in the North and East Bay. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is advising Bay Area residents of the possibility that smoke from the Soberanes Fire may, at times, impact Santa Clara County this weekend.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Saturday, August 21. Smoke from wildfires in Washington, Oregon and Northern California, that moved offshore over the past couple of days, will continue to impact the Bay Area on Saturday. Lingering, lofted smoke over the Bay Area will cause hazy and smoky skies but pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards. Air quality is expected to be in the good to low-moderate range on the Air Quality Index, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Saturday. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect for today, Friday, August 20. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Friday, August 20. Smoke from the Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area on Thursday and Friday. Light northerly winds will continue to transport smoke toward the Bay Area. Smoke impacts are forecast to be more widespread than last week. Air quality is expected to be in the mid to high-moderate range and not exceed the federal health standard, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. However, smoke may mix to the surface at times causing intermittent and isolated pockets of elevated pollution levels.

The Air District has issued 18 Notices of Violation to MRC for violations of air quality regulations and/or permit conditions for the February 1 fire. This is an ongoing investigation, and more violations may be issued.

Starting July 1, 2024, the Air District will offer $1,500 to Bay Area residents to improve local air quality by scrapping their 1998 and older vehicles through the Vehicle Buy Back Program.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for smoke east of Rodeo, along the Carquinez Strait.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from wildfires in the western U.S. and Canada through Sunday, August 11. Local pollution and residual smoke from fires in the western U.S. and Canada continues to impact air quality in the Bay Area, causing hazy and smoky skies. Air quality is expected to be Good to Moderate on the Air Quality Index.
