The Air District announced today that Air Liquide Large Industries, US LP, has agreed to pay $159,000 to settle violations that occurred at its hydrogen plant at the San Francisco Oil Refinery in Rodeo.

The Air District has been awarded $15 million in federal grant funding to spur the creation of a more robust, accessible and equitable electric vehicle charging network across the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. 

The Air District has issued four violations to the Chevron refinery in Richmond for the December 28, 2016, incident that resulted in an upset and flaring at the refinery and many odor complaints in San Francisco and Richmond.

The Clean Air Center Program provides funding for county agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area to create a network of clean air centers to mitigate the adverse public health impacts due to wildfires and other smoke events.

The Air District has issued the following prescribed burn notice effective October 27-31.

The Air District has approved a $100,000 grant to the Prescott-Joseph Center for the expansion of the Breathmobile to children and families living in the cities of San Pablo and Hayward, and the neighborhood of Chinatown in Oakland.

The Air District announced today that Radius Recycling, formerly Schnitzer Steel, has agreed to pay $575,000 to settle air quality violations that occurred at its facilities in West Oakland and San Jose. The penalty resolves eight notices of violation. 

The Air District has fined subsidiaries of Kinder Morgan, Inc., an energy infrastructure company that operates pipelines and fuel terminals throughout North America, $226,990 for air quality violations at two fuel terminals, one in Richmond and another in San Jose. 

The Air District's Board of Directors approved allocating $4 million in Community Air Protection Incentives funding to support home and school air filtration programs in Bay Area communities at their June 4 meeting. As part of this initiative, the Air District Board authorized up to $1.3 million of upgrades in public schools in Richmond, North Richmond, San Pablo, and Tara Hills. An additional $1.7 million will be used to expand air filtration upgrades in schools in Bayview-Hunters Point in San Francisco, and $1 million will be allocated to the Air District’s Home Air Filtration program.

The Air District is investigating all potential sources for a series of rotten-egg odor complaints in San Francisco and Richmond - including two flaring incidents at Chevron as well as other potential sources such as ships, area landfills and wastewater treatment facilities.
