The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for the greater Bay Area through Tuesday, August 18, due to smoke from wildfires. Numerous lightning strikes sparked wildfires across the region over the past few days. Air quality may deteriorate in areas near or downwind of the fires, but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory through Sunday, October 18, due to possible wildfire smoke impacts. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoke from the August Complex and Creek Fires are expected to drift into the Bay Area, causing smoky and hazy skies through Sunday.

The Air District is soliciting applications for thirteen seats on its Community Advisory Council. The thirteen open seats represent: Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Solano counties, as well as at-large and youth seats. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for smoke in Southern Solano, northern Contra Costa, and northwestern Alameda counties, specifically communities between I-80 and I-680 bridges (Martinez, Pacheco, Concord and Port Chicago), but with some impact possible southward to Oakland, due to a fire at Valero.
