In partnership with Acterra and the 2018 Acterra Business Environmental Awards, the Air District has announced the newest recipient of the Spare the Air Leadership Award – Kaiser Permanente.

The Air District’s Finance Office has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its fiscal year 2025–2026 budget document. The Air District’s Director of Finance, Stephanie Osaze, also received a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation, instrumental in achieving this award.

The Air District celebrated the exceptional public service of outgoing Board Director and former Mayor of the City of Berkeley, Thomas H. Bates, by awarding him a Lifetime Achievement Award at today’s Board of Directors meeting. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the first of its kind issued by the Air District and honors the distinguished career of those serving to improve air quality and protect the climate for all residents of the Bay Area.

The Air District has awarded the 2022 Spare the Air Leadership Award to MCE for their Low-Income Families and Tenants or LIFT program, which has already given over $1 million in rebates to 680 homes, saving over 7,800 kilowatt-hours of energy per year.

The Air District will honor SF Goodwill for the Spare the Air Leadership Award on Wednesday, May 22, at the 2019 Acterra Business Environmental Awards in San Francisco. 

The Air District will honor Kaiser Permanente for the Spare the Air Leadership Award on Thursday, May 31, at the 2018 Acterra Business Environmental Awards in San Francisco. 

The Air District will honor Central Concrete with the Spare the Air Leadership Award on Thursday, May 28, at the 2020 Acterra Business Environmental Awards online awards ceremony. This year’s award ceremony is being be held online in accordance with local shelter-in-place guidelines due to COVID-19. 

The Air District is announcing the award of a loan guarantee to UCAP Power, a provider of ultracapacitor systems that offer reliable, cost-effective high-power energy storage, to support clean energy in the region. 

The 2018 Climate Protection Grant Program will award up to $4.5 million to Bay Area public agencies to accelerate local implementation of greenhouse gas reductions in two program areas: (1) reducing GHGs from existing buildings and (2) fostering innovative strategies (in multiple sectors).
