Air Quality Advisory
Smoke from the fires in Northern Sacramento Valley is expected to impact air quality in the eastern portion of the Bay Area down to Santa Clara Valley on Friday and Saturday. Residents in affected areas should stay alert to news coverage and health warnings related to smoke. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and take steps to protect your health from smoke. Learn how at www.baaqmd.gov/wildfiresafety. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

Air District strengthens building appliance rules to reduce harmful NOx emissions, protect air quality and public healthThe Air District Board of Directors has adopted amendments to Regulation 9, Rules 4 and 6, to eliminate emissions of nitrogen oxides, or NOx, from residential and commercial natural gas furnaces and water heaters in the Bay Area by requiring new appliances to be zero-NOx.

Air District fines Value PlumbingToday, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District announced that Value Plumbing Co., Inc., of Oakley, California, has agreed to pay $310,000 in a settlement filed with the Superior Court of the State of California in the County of Contra Costa for installing uncertified residential water heaters in the Bay Area.
