The Air District's Board of Directors approved funding today for 92 new plug-in electric vehicle charging stations throughout the nine-county region. The project will provide grants for the installation of new, publicly available EV charging stations along major transportation corridors, at workplaces, and at key locations.

Beginning December 7, 2021, the Air District’s Charge! program will begin accepting applications to help offset a portion of the cost of purchasing and installing new publicly available electric vehicle charging stations throughout the region. The goal of the Charge! program is to help build a charging network able to support the Bay Area’s electric vehicle adoption goals of 90 percent of the overall vehicle fleet by 2050.

The Air District has awarded $1.18 million grant to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to replace seven older school buses, five compressed natural gas buses and two diesel buses with zero-emission electric buses and the charging infrastructure to support them. The project will also support the installation of eight DC fast chargers and related infrastructure.
