Today the Air District's Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve the community action plan, Owning Our Air: The West Oakland Community Action Plan, co-authored by the Air District and the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to smoke from a fire at Schnitzer Steel in West Oakland. Smoke from the fire is expected to impact Oakland, San Leandro, Fremont and Alameda, with potential impacts as far south as San Jose Wednesday evening.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for smoke for the far South Bay, including Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy through Tuesday, July 7. Beginning late Saturday, the Park Fire broke out east of Morgan Hill, and on Sunday, the larger Crews Fire started east of Gilroy. Air quality impacts are possible near the fires.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to smoke from the fire at Schnitzer Steel in West Oakland. Smoke from the fire is expected to continue to impact parts of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The Air District announced today that Radius Recycling, formerly Schnitzer Steel, has agreed to pay $575,000 to settle air quality violations that occurred at its facilities in West Oakland and San Jose. The penalty resolves eight notices of violation. 

The Air District received a ruling from an Alameda County Superior Court judge yesterday finding that an abatement order to shut down diesel generators at the Green Sage cannabis facilities in Oakland is immediately enforceable by further order of the court.

The Air District is advising Bay Area residents that smoke from Northern California wildfires is blowing into the nine-county region today. Smoke impacts can be seen throughout the North and East Bay areas. 

The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority and the Air District announced that WETA’s Gemini Class Clean Air Conversion Project has been completed, resulting in a substantial decrease in air pollution emissions from four San Francisco Bay Ferry vessels serving Oakland, Alameda, and Richmond.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for smoke in Southern Solano, northern Contra Costa, and northwestern Alameda counties, specifically communities between I-80 and I-680 bridges (Martinez, Pacheco, Concord and Port Chicago), but with some impact possible southward to Oakland, due to a fire at Valero.

The Air District is extending the air quality advisory through Saturday, September 26, due to possible wildfire smoke impacts in parts of the East Bay. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy.
