The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert due to wildfire smoke from fires in northern California through Tuesday, October 13, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

The Winter Spare the Air season begins Sunday, November 1. During a Winter Spare the Air Alert, it is illegal to burn wood, manufactured firelogs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. The season lasts until February 29, 2016.

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for today, Sunday, December 8, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Regional wood burning and easterly winds transporting air pollution into the Bay Area from the Central Valley have contributed to high overnight concentrations of fine particle pollution and unhealthy air quality.
