The Air District is implementing a $14 million grant program to promote electric vehicle adoption in the Bay Area. This funding is available to both public and private entities to encourage turnover of their fleets to electric vehicles.

The Air District has been awarded $15 million in federal grant funding to spur the creation of a more robust, accessible and equitable electric vehicle charging network across the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. 

The Air District's Board of Directors has adopted two new regulations to further tighten air pollution controls on petroleum operations at Bay Area refineries. Regulation 9, Rule 14 reduces sulfur dioxide emissions from the largest Bay Area source, coke calcining. Regulation 12, Rule 15 is a first-of-its-kind requirement that will better enable the Air District to track refinery emissions as changes are made at the facilities.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing the second Spare the Air Alert for smog on Friday, July 14, 2023. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Friday, July 14. Hot inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District has fined Republic Services $159,000 for 14 air quality violations at the Sonoma Central Landfill in Petaluma.

The Air District has settled 14 Notices of Violation with Valero Refining Co. for $191,500 for violations at its Benicia Oil Refinery.
