Smoke impacts in the Bay Area due to the Salmon Creek Prescribed Burn in Sonoma County. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and protect your health if smoke is impacting your area by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed, if temperatures allow. Follow instructions from local health officials.

Air District to host final open house for new draft refinery rulesOn Monday, September 28, the Air District is hosting the last of a series of open houses to discuss the agency’s four new and amended draft petroleum refinery emissions reduction rules. This open house will be held at Lincoln Elementary School in Richmond starting at 6pm. The public comment period for these rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2.

Air District launching incentive program for fireplace & wood stove upgradesThe program will open at 10AM on August 26, 2016, on a first-come, first-served basis for homeowners and landlords to replace their wood burning device. Funding will be prioritized for low-income residents, residents located in areas highly affected by wood smoke, and households exempt from burn bans due to a wood-burning device being the sole source of heat. Starting November 1, 2016, anyone whose sole source of heat is a wood-burning device must use an EPA-certified or pellet-fueled device that is registered with the Air District to qualify for an exemption.
