Conservation Tip

In the Bay Area, in the begining of this century, with great progress having been made in improving general air quality conditions, the Air District stepped up its outreach to local communities in the region. And with ozone concentrations a fraction of what they were several decades earlier, the Air District increased its efforts to address the substantial public health problems presented by particulate pollution.

Bicycle Facility Program

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District's (Air District’s) Bicycle Facility Program (BFP) provides grant funding to reduce motor vehicle emissions through the implementation of new bikeways and bicycle parking facilities in the Bay Area. The BFP is funded through the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) program.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) is currently accepting comments on the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) Regional Fund Policies for fiscal year (FY) 20010/2011 covering Shuttles, Ridesharing, and Bicycle Facility Projects. Please note that later this year, the Air District will update these policies to include additional project categories.

Review and Comment

The Air District invites comments on these draft revisions. The deadline for submittal of comments has been extended to Monday, May 3, 2010. Based on stakeholder input, a final draft will be developed for consideration by the Air District Board of Directors in May.
