Planned prescribed burning on Angel Island has been canceled.
Air quality is improving, and the Air District continues to monitor smoke across the region. Crews may remain on site today to extinguish remaining hot spots, but no additional prescribed burning is planned. Today’s Spare the Air Alert is for ozone and is separate from Tuesday's smoke impacts.

Spare the Air summer season begins May 2On May 2, the Air District is launching the 2016 Spare the Air season, which focuses on reducing ozone, or smog-forming pollution during the warmer summer months. The Spare the Air program encourages Bay Area residents to reduce air pollution every day by rethinking their commute and avoiding driving alone.
