The Bay Area Healthy Homes Initiative, or BAHHI, is a program that seeks to improve health outcomes for the Contra Costa and Alameda County residents living in the areas most impacted by traffic air pollution. The program integrates multiple services that seek to reduce participants’ exposure to air pollution and other asthma triggers while also making homes more energy efficient.

On May 2, the Air District is launching the 2016 Spare the Air season, which focuses on reducing ozone, or smog-forming pollution during the warmer summer months. The Spare the Air program encourages Bay Area residents to reduce air pollution every day by rethinking their commute and avoiding driving alone.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert that is in place today, Saturday, August 28, through tomorrow, Sunday, August 29, due to wildfire smoke. The burning of wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors is prohibited.
