The Air District is seeking applicants for a voluntary position on its Hearing Board. The Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that rules on particular cases that affect only individual facilities.

The Air District's Board of Directors will consider the proposed 2017 Clean Air Plan – a call to action to Spare the Air and Cool the Climate (YouTube streaming video) - at their regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, April 19, starting at 9:45 AM. The 2017 Plan aims to lead the region to a post-carbon economy, to continue progress toward attaining all state and federal air quality standards, and to eliminate health risk disparities from exposure to air pollution among Bay Area communities.

The Air District will cancel the Board of Directors Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 18, at 9:30 AM. The meeting is canceled due to the shelter in place order in San Francisco and other Bay Area counties to reduce the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, or Covid-19.

The Air District today confirmed the appointment of Alexander “Sandy” Crockett as the new district counsel, effective May 23.

Today, the Air District Board of Directors voted to retain Sharon Landers as the interim executive officer beginning Monday, May 23, for a nine-month contract. The Air District's Board of Directors has adopted two new regulations to further tighten air pollution controls on petroleum operations at Bay Area refineries. Regulation 9, Rule 14 reduces sulfur dioxide emissions from the largest Bay Area source, coke calcining. Regulation 12, Rule 15 is a first-of-its-kind requirement that will better enable the Air District to track refinery emissions as changes are made at the facilities.

The Air District's Board of Directors has voted to set the stage for Regulation 12, Rule 16 to cap greenhouse gas emissions from the region’s five refineries, creating a model for the state and nation to follow.
