The Air District is seeking applicants for a voluntary position on its Hearing Board. The Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that rules on particular cases that affect only individual facilities.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for today, Saturday, May 21. Smoke from the Owens Fire is expected to impact the North Bay, northern East Bay, San Francisco and the Peninsula but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing the fourth Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog for Saturday, September 3. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. A strong high-pressure system leading to triple-digit temperatures, combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust, is expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Park Fire in Northern California for today, Sunday, July 28, and tomorrow, Monday, July 29. Smoke from the Park Fire is expected to impact air quality in parts of the Bay Area today and tomorrow. Hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible at high elevations. Air quality is expected to remain in the Good to Moderate categories on the Air Quality Index.

The Air District is issuing another Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Thursday, October 31, for the entire region. While good to moderate air quality is expected through most of the region tomorrow, air quality is forecast to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range in Windsor and Santa Rosa. Moderate air quality is expected throughout the rest of the North Bay with areas near the fire still impacted by unhealthy air quality. Air quality should be in the good to moderate range for the rest of the week for most of the Bay Area – which is normal this time of year. 

The Air District is advising Bay Area residents that smoke from Northern California wildfires is blowing into the nine-county region today. Smoke impacts can be seen throughout the North and East Bay areas. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Monday, August 30. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

Smoke from wildfires throughout the Bay Area is impacting air quality.  

The Air  District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Thursday, August 12. Northerly winds are expected to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Friday, August 13. Northerly winds will continue to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, September 6. Smoke from wildfires in Northern California is expected to continue to cause hazy and smoky skies across the Bay Area through Monday. Air quality is expected to generally be in the moderate range on the Air Quality Index. Higher concentrations of smoke may intermittently mix to the surface at times, but pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air is in effect. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Wednesday, August 23. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Tuesday and Wednesday, causing air quality to reach moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Monday, October 28, for the entire region. Currently, smoke from the Kincade Fire and other local fires is mostly being pushed over the Pacific Ocean due to strong winds or is aloft over the region – localized impacts closest to the fire continue. However, winds are expected to shift to the northwest starting Monday afternoon and smoke is expected to impact the entire Bay Area, especially the North Bay, San Francisco and the East Bay.

Smoke from fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area area, causing air quality to reach high-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25. Smoke from fires in Southern and Central California is expected to impact the Bay Area through Saturday, producing smoky and hazy skies. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke through Monday, September 14. This will be the 26th, 27th, and 28th consecutive Spare the Air Alert called. Smoke from the many fires throughout California, Oregon, and Washington is continuing to heavily impact the Bay Area and is forecast to produce unhealthy air quality in the region through Monday.

The Air District is issuing the seventh Spare the Air Alert for smog (and the 11th overall this year) on Thursday, October 19. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow. High pressure over the region is expected to produce light offshore winds and hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for smog on Monday, September 30. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. High pressure over northern California is expected to produce offshore winds and hot inland temperatures in the upper-90s to low-100s. High inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.
