    The Air District is advising Bay Area residents that smoke from the wildfires around California is impacting many parts of the region. Particulate pollution from the fires increased late Saturday, with high levels throughout much of the Bay Area Sunday morning. Particulate pollution levels are expected to remain elevated through today and may not ease until Monday.

    Air quality advisory for smoke in the far South Bay extended through Tuesday

    The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for smoke for the far South Bay, including Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy through Tuesday, July 7. Beginning late Saturday, the Park Fire broke out east of Morgan Hill, and on Sunday, the larger Crews Fire started east of Gilroy. Air quality impacts are possible near the fires.

    Air District extends Spare the Air Alert through Sunday

    The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smog through Sunday, October 6. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Saturday, October 5. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy today and tomorrow. Very high inland temperatures and weak offshore winds, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will continue to create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

    Annual youth conference encourages action for clean air

    The annual Youth for Environment and Sustainability, or YES, Conference, co-sponsored by the Air District, returns to the Bay Area on Saturday, February 24, 2018.  It will be held at Laney College, 900 Fallon Street in Oakland from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The free day-long regional conference will bring together middle and high school students from the nine Bay Area counties to discuss topics ranging from climate change and public health to transportation and air pollution.
