The Air District has awarded a loan guarantee to Gridscape Solutions, a developer of renewable energy microgrid solutions in California. Gridscape’s microgrids integrate several technologies, including solar panels and lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, to provide renewable power, clean emergency backup power, and grid resiliency. 

The Air District has released a woodsmoke White Paper for public comment, which provides extensive information on wood burning in the Bay Area, the current state of the regulatory landscape for wood-burning devices, and a discussion of potential recommendations to further minimize woodsmoke emissions and exposures.

The Air District issued two public nuisance violations, one to Phillips 66 in Rodeo and one to the operator of the Yamuna Spirit oil tanker, for a September 20, 2016, incident near the Phillips 66 Refinery in Rodeo that resulted in nearly 1,500 odor complaints from the Vallejo area.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District today announced a recent settlement with Chevron U.S.A to pay a $146,000 civil penalty for air quality violations at its refinery in Richmond. On December 28, the Air District announced that Valero Refining Co. agreed to pay $142,000 to settle violations at its refinery in Benicia. The settlement covers a group of 20 notices of violation issued to the company for non-compliance with air quality regulations that occurred largely in 2015.
