The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for Wednesday, July 15, due to smoke from the Mineral Fire that started Monday evening in Fresno County. Smoke from the fire is expected to impact the Bay Area starting tomorrow morning when winds are predicted to shift, bringing smoke into the South Bay and moving north later Wednesday. Smoke will likely remain aloft, resulting in smoky, hazy skies but ground-level air quality is not expected to be impacted. 

The Air District is advising Bay Area residents that smoke from the Loma Fire may be impacting Santa Clara County. Light winds blowing south-easterly have transported smoke from the fire into southern Santa Clara County, creating localized impacts.

The Air District has confirmed the source of the odor to be the West Contra Costa County Landfill's compost operation.

Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton and the Air District’s Chief Counsel, Alexander Crockett, today announced a joint civil enforcement action against the Martinez Refining Company (MRC).

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is advising Bay Area residents of the possibility that smoke from the Soberanes Fire may, at times, impact Santa Clara County this weekend.

The Air District is advising Bay Area residents that smoke from Northern California wildfires is blowing into the nine-county region today. Smoke impacts can be seen throughout the North and East Bay areas. 

The Air District is advising Bay Area residents of the possibility that as winds shift from the west to the north early Thursday, smoke from the Valley Fire may impact parts of the North Bay, and especially Napa County, through the weekend.

The Air District announced the recipients of the 2016 James Cary Smith Community Grant Program awards. The Air District used available funding to back 11 community-based partnership projects within the nine-county Bay Area region for a total of $261,274. The projects will increase awareness and engagement about air quality issues and initiate ways to reduce air pollution.

The Air District will host a signing ceremony for mayors, city and county government officials, and leaders of industry and business from all over the world who commit to going diesel free by signing the Statement of Purpose to cut diesel use to zero by 2033. 

The Air District is requiring a new Residential Fireplace Disclosure for anyone selling or leasing property with a wood-burning device in the nine-county Bay Area region. Beginning June 1, anyone selling or leasing residential property within the Bay Area will be required to disclose the health hazards of wood smoke, as part of the signed disclosure documents in real estate purchase or rental transactions.
