The Air District is asking residents to not burn wood on Thanksgiving Day, to help prevent air pollution from rising to unhealthy levels.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for the greater Bay Area through Tuesday, August 18, due to smoke from wildfires. Numerous lightning strikes sparked wildfires across the region over the past few days. Air quality may deteriorate in areas near or downwind of the fires, but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. 

The  Air District is issuing a Health Advisory & Spare the Air Alert through Thursday, October 19, due to continued smoke impacts from wildfires in the region. Unhealthy air quality from the wildfires continues to plague the eastern Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties. Due to active wildfires and changing wind patterns, air quality throughout the Bay Area could be impacted for many days to come. 

The Air District is issuing a smoke advisory for the North and East Bay areas, today Monday, October 16, 2017. Unhealthy air quality from the wildfires continues to plague the North Bay counties. Due to active wildfires and changing wind patterns, air quality throughout the Bay Area could be impacted for many days to come. Outside of the active fire areas, air quality will be variable and unpredictable.

The Air District is issuing a Health Advisory & Spare the Air Alert through Wednesday, October 18, due to unpredictable air quality in the Bay Area. Unhealthy air quality from the wildfires continues to plague the North Bay counties as well as other parts of the Bay Area. Due to active wildfires and changing wind patterns, air quality throughout the Bay Area could be impacted for many days to come. Outside of the active fire areas, air quality will be variable and unpredictable.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Saturday, August 21. Smoke from wildfires in Washington, Oregon and Northern California, that moved offshore over the past couple of days, will continue to impact the Bay Area on Saturday. Lingering, lofted smoke over the Bay Area will cause hazy and smoky skies but pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards. Air quality is expected to be in the good to low-moderate range on the Air Quality Index, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Saturday. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect for today, Friday, August 20. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Moon Complex fire in Oregon for tonight, September 27, and tomorrow, September 28. Smoke from the Moon Complex in southwestern Oregon has been drifting southward offshore over the past few days and has mixed with the marine layer that is moving onshore over the Bay Area this Saturday evening and Sunday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, and the smell of smoke is possible.
