The Air District is issuing the twentieth Spare the Air Alert for smoke today, Thursday, October 24, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is experiencing smoke impacts. Additional impacts may spread across the Bay Area this evening and into tomorrow. Residents should follow evacuation orders and instructions from local health officials. 

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke through Wednesday, September 16. This will be the 29th and 30th consecutive Spare the Air Alert called.

The Air District is issuing a smoke advisory today due to multiple fires that developed overnight in the North Bay. Heavy smoke from these wildfires in the North Bay counties is causing very unhealthy air quality throughout the region and the smoke is moving into other parts of the Bay Area due to winds.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke through Monday, September 14. This will be the 26th, 27th, and 28th consecutive Spare the Air Alert called. Smoke from the many fires throughout California, Oregon, and Washington is continuing to heavily impact the Bay Area and is forecast to produce unhealthy air quality in the region through Monday.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke through Friday, September 11. This will be the 24th and 25th consecutive Spare the Air Alert called. Smoke from the many fires throughout California will continue to impact the Bay Area and produce unhealthy air quality in the region through Friday.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from Canadian wildfires in the Bay Area through Wednesday, June 4. Smoke from various Canadian wildfires in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba is expected to impact air quality in the Bay Area through Wednesday. The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from Canada and Alaska in the Bay Area through Monday, June 23. Smoke from various wildfires in western Canada and in Alaska is expected to continue to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Monday. The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for the Bay Area due to wildfire smoke from fires in northern Sacramento Valley through Saturday, July 12. Smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires is moving down the Sacramento Valley and is expected to continue to impact air quality in portions of the Bay Area on Saturday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, the smell of smoke is possible and air quality may become unhealthy at times on Saturday. 

The Air District is lifting an air quality advisory for the Bay Area due to wildfire smoke that was originally scheduled to last through today, Monday, July 14. Over the weekend, smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires had been moving down the Sacramento Valley and impacting air quality in portions of the Bay Area. However, as of Monday morning, the Bay Area is experiencing strong onshore winds, and smoke has remained mostly outside of the region. Air quality has been in the Good Air Quality Index category. Moderate onshore winds are expected to continue into Tuesday, keeping the smoke outside of the Bay Area. As the week progresses, these onshore winds will turn southerly in northern California, and this also is expected to keep the smoke from moving towards our region.

Smoke from the Gifford Fire in Central California is expected to move over the Bay Area on Tuesday. The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke and ozone, or smog, for Tuesday, September 8, and for wildfire smoke on Wednesday. This will be the 22nd and 23rd consecutive Spare the Air Alert called.

The Air District is issuing the winter season’s third Spare the Air Alert for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 22, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Smoke from increased wood burning is expected to cause air quality to be unhealthy with the heaviest impacts in the Santa Clara Valley due to cold overnight temperatures and light winds.
