The Air District has awarded $3.1 million to RPEV Infrastructure 2, LLC to purchase and install 46 new electric vehicle chargers and associated infrastructure at a fleet vehicle charging depot in Richmond.
The project includes 16 DC fast chargers, the fastest type of electric vehicle charger on the market, and 30 Level 2 ports.
The project will help improve air quality in this disadvantaged, low-income community, which experiences elevated pollution levels from nearby freight corridors and industrial facilities. By prioritizing clean charging infrastructure in an area heavily impacted by air pollution from the goods movement, port operations and on-road activity, the project supports a more equitable transition to electric vehicles and is expected to be completed by October 2027.
