The Air District responded to a fire last night at the Sims Metal Management facility in Richmond. Four Air District inspectors were sent to the scene to provide support to first responders. 

The Air District is announcing that its independent Hearing Board has ordered Martin Marietta to get a permit for the company’s sand distribution plant located at Pier 92 in Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco. The Air District announced that Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., has agreed to pay $990,000 to settle air quality violations at its facility in Hercules. 

The Air District has reached an agreement with Argent Materials, Inc., that resolves violations at the company’s aggregate recycling facility in East Oakland. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Argent will install and operate a fenceline air monitoring system at both yards of its East Oakland facility to enhance transparency and provide continuous air quality data to the Air District and the community.

The Air District announced that two notices of violation have been issued to Sims Metal Management for the January 30 fire at the company’s scrap metal facility in Richmond.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved funding today for 92 new plug-in electric vehicle charging stations throughout the nine-county region. The project will provide grants for the installation of new, publicly available EV charging stations along major transportation corridors, at workplaces, and at key locations.
