Bay Area PEV Readiness Plan

Learn about the Bay Area Plug-in Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan, electric vehicles, charging stations, and other information.

Developed by the Air District in partnership with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Bay Area Plug-in Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan offers guidance on preparing for mass adoption of electric vehicles in the Bay Area.

The plan gives drivers, agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders information on how to prepare for regional adoption of plug-in electric vehicles, or PEVs. It includes strategies for:

  • Quickly increasing PEV adoption.
  • Supplying a sustainable infrastructure to meet increasing demand.
  • Offering financial and other incentives to help grow the PEV market.
  • Building awareness and demand for PEVs through consumer education and outreach.
  • Offering guidance to local governments on PEV friendly policies, ordinances, zoning, and permitting practices.
  • Attracting and retaining local PEV manufacturing and services.
  • Integrating the sustainable communities strategy (Plan Bay Area).
