Upgrade or replace locomotives with funding from the Carl Moyer Program. This program aims to cut air pollution from heavy-duty diesel engines in California.
Project Types
The Air District is currently accepting applications for Locomotive projects. Funding is offered on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been spent. Applications must be complete to be considered for funding.
Funds are available for the following project types:
- Locomotive replacement - replace an old locomotive with a Tier 4 emissions standard engine.
- Engine replacement (repower) - replace an old engine with a new, Tier 4 emission-certified engine.
- Head end power unit replacement - replace the locomotive head end power unit with a Tier 4 emissions standard engine.
