Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program

The Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program provides funding to support projects that improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing vehicle trips and miles traveled in the Bay Area.

Announcement:

The Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program is currently accepting applications for Bicycle Facility projects, but is no longer accepting applications for Transportation Service projects.

The program is still open and accepting applications for the Bicycle Facility category, which includes Protected Bikeway, Electronic Bicycle Locker, and Bicycle Rack projects. All applicants must attend at least one pre-application webinar before submitting an application.

As of March 2020, approximately $1.5 million in funding is available. Interested parties are encouraged to sign up to receive TFCA email alerts and return to this Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program web page for regular updates.

This program is funded through the Air District’s Transportation Fund for Clean Air Regional Fund, which provides grants to improve air quality within the nine-county Bay Area by reducing emissions of criteria pollutants from on-road vehicles.

The Air District has closed the Transportation Service category of the Program to give interested parties time to explore funding opportunities from other sources, such as the California Air Resources Board’s Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot and Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP). The Transportation Service category includes Pilot Service, Existing Shuttle Service, and Existing Ridesharing projects.
