Smoke from the Moon Complex fire in Oregon is expected to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Saturday and Sunday. Residents in affected areas should stay alert to news coverage and health warnings related to smoke. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and take steps to protect your health from smoke. Learn how at www.baaqmd.gov/wildfiresafety. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

Air District increases Vehicle Buy Back Program incentive and expands eligibility effective July 1Effective July 1, the Air District is expanding the Vehicle Buy Back Program, which takes older, high-polluting vehicles off the road that would otherwise likely remain in operation. The program is increasing the incentive amount to $2,000 per vehicle and including vehicles that are model year 2000 and older.

Air District extends Spare the Air Alert through TuesdayThe Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smog through Tuesday, October 1. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Monday, September 30. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy today and tomorrow. Very high inland temperatures and weak offshore winds, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will continue to create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.
