The Air District is sponsoring AB 953 (Connolly and Hart) to build upon and expand the voluntary vessel speed reduction program, Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies, statewide. Expansion of the speed reduction and sustainable shipping program for the entire California coast would reduce air pollution, greenhouse gases and the risk of fatal vessel strikes on whales.

The Air District is announcing the launch of its Commercial Electric Lawn and Garden Equipment Exchange Program, a pilot grant program designed to reduce air pollution by replacing gasoline and diesel-powered landscaping equipment with cleaner, zero-emission electric alternatives.

The Air District's Board of Directors has set aside $250,000 to fund community science projects through the James Cary Smith Community Grant Program for fiscal year ending 2018.

The Air District is accepting applications for grant funding for projects that reduce toxic air emissions and ozone-forming pollutants from older, polluting diesel engines through the Community Health Protection Grant Program.

The Air District and partners in an initiative to cut air pollution and protect whales announced the launch of the 2018 incentive program, which will start July 1 and end November 15, 2018, with voluntary vessel speed reduction zones in the Santa Barbara Channel region and San Francisco Bay area.

The Air District is hosting a public workshop in San Francisco on two rule amendments that are part of the Air District’s Wildfire Air Quality Response Program.

The Air District is partnering with MCE and the Transportation Authority of Marin to launch Drive Clean Bay Area, a consumer education program which offers a group purchase plan to lower the cost of electric vehicles for Bay Area customers.

Starting July 1, 2024, the Air District will offer $1,500 to Bay Area residents to improve local air quality by scrapping their 1998 and older vehicles through the Vehicle Buy Back Program.

The Air District has awarded a loan guarantee to SPARKZ, a next-generation battery manufacturer re-engineering the battery supply chain in the United States. 

At a public hearing today, the Air District released the 2024 Toxic Air Contaminant Program Annual Report, along with a user-friendly new web page that allows members of the public to view toxic emission data from a comprehensive map of permitted facilities in the Bay Area.
