The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for this afternoon and early evening, Wednesday, July 19. Smoke from the Flat Fire in southwestern Oregon is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area this afternoon and early evening. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations, especially in the East Bay, North Bay and Santa Clara Valley regions. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory today through Friday, October 16, due to possible wildfire smoke impacts. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoke from the August Complex Fire and potentially the Creek Fire are expected to drift into the Bay Area, causing smoky and hazy skies today and tomorrow.

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for Thursday, January 15, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert through Saturday, January 17, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Thursday, January 15.

The Air District is issuing the winter season’s first Spare the Air Alerts for Wednesday, November 26, and Thanksgiving Day, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke in eastern Contra Costa County for today and tomorrow, Tuesday, July 12, and Wednesday, July 13. Smoke from the Marsh Fire is expected to impact the eastern Contra Costa cities of Pittsburgh, Antioch, Oakley and Brentwood. Onshore winds during the daytime are expected to disperse smoke, but as winds die down overnight localized pollution levels may rise between 10 PM and 9 AM. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is expected to be in the moderate range overall. 

The Air District's Board of Directors adopted a bold air quality and climate plan, the 2017 Clean Air Plan, entitled Spare the Air - Cool the Climate (YouTube streaming video), which addresses air quality improvement and greenhouse gas reduction for the nine-county Bay Area region.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, September 22. Smoke from fires across Southern California is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area, with smoky and hazy skies. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Wednesday. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect for today, September 21. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Monday, October 4. Smoke from wildfires in Southern California is expected to continue impacting the Bay Area on Monday with smoky and hazy skies. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Monday. A Spare the Air Alert for ozone, or smog, remains in effect for Sunday, October 3.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Thursday, August 31. A Spare the Air Alert is also in effect for today, Wednesday, August 30. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area through tomorrow, causing air quality to reach high-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect for Thursday.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Monday, August 30. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Saturday, August 21. Smoke from wildfires in Washington, Oregon and Northern California, that moved offshore over the past couple of days, will continue to impact the Bay Area on Saturday. Lingering, lofted smoke over the Bay Area will cause hazy and smoky skies but pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards. Air quality is expected to be in the good to low-moderate range on the Air Quality Index, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Saturday. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect for today, Friday, August 20. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, July 11. Smoke from the Washburn Fire is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area and is expected to impact the North and East Bay regions. However, pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the federal health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is expected to be in the moderate range.

The Air District is extending the current air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, September 27. An air quality advisory is currently in place for Saturday, September 25. Smoke from fires in Southern and Central California is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area through Monday with smoky and hazy skies. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Sunday, August 27. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern and Southern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.
