Today, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert for smog in 2020. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Light winds combined with triple-digit inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Tuesday, September 6. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Ongoing triple-digit temperatures combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust are expected to continue causing unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area.

The Air District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert of 2023 for smog for Thursday, April 27. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow. Light winds and hot temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Monday, September 5. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Strong high pressure leading to a triple-digit heat wave, combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust, is expected to continue to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. 

The Air District is issuing the fourth Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog for Saturday, September 3. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. A strong high-pressure system leading to triple-digit temperatures, combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust, is expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. 

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Saturday, July 22, 2023. Air quality is expected to be unhealthy. Hot inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog. Continued smoke impacts from the Flat Fire in Oregon may also contribute to the formation of smog tomorrow.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Thursday, September 8. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Continued high pressure over the region will result in clear skies, light winds, and hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

High-pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and very hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

High pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and high inland temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels. Smoke impacts from the fires near the California and Oregon border may also contribute to the formation of smog tomorrow.

Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to also impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.

Wildfire smoke combined with hot inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Southern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region, creating hazy and smoky skies.   

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Sunday, October 3. Wildfire smoke combined with hot inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Southern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region, creating hazy and smoky skies.

The Air District is issuing the twentieth Spare the Air Alert for smoke today, Thursday, October 24, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is experiencing smoke impacts. Additional impacts may spread across the Bay Area this evening and into tomorrow. Residents should follow evacuation orders and instructions from local health officials. 

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smoke through tomorrow, Friday, October 25, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the Bay Area starting this evening.

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smoke through tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the region starting this afternoon as smoke mixes down to the surface.

The Air District is issuing another Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30, for the entire region. While good air quality is expected through the region late today through tomorrow morning, air quality is expected to degrade again tomorrow afternoon as winds decrease and smoke drains south into the Bay Area. Strong winds through Wednesday afternoon may also cause growth of the Kincade Fire and new local fires with additional smoke impacts.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert through Tuesday, December 20, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.
