The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Thursday, September 2, and Friday, September 3. Smoke from wildfires in northern California is predicted to cause hazy and smoky skies across the Bay Area on Thursday and Friday. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. However, smoke may mix to the surface at times causing intermittent and isolated pockets of elevated pollution levels. Air quality is expected to be in the good to moderate range on the Air Quality Index.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25. Smoke from fires in Southern and Central California is expected to impact the Bay Area through Saturday, producing smoky and hazy skies. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for today, Tuesday, May 31, and tomorrow, Wednesday, June 1. Smoke from the Old Fire in Napa County is expected to impact the Napa Valley. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible near the fire; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present in the North Bay through Wednesday. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to smoke from the fire at Schnitzer Steel in West Oakland. Smoke from the fire is expected to continue to impact parts of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to smoke for Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Smoke from prescribed fires near Pescadero may impact air quality along the Peninsula – south of San Francisco and north of San Jose. The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from wildfires in the western U.S and Canada for the rest of the day Thursday, August 8, and for Friday, August 9. An inversion layer combined with local pollution and residual smoke from fires in the western U.S. and Canada is impacting air quality in the Bay Area. As onshore winds increase this afternoon and Friday, air quality is expected to be Good to Moderate on the Air Quality Index.

The Air District is announcing that Bimbo Bakeries, USA Inc., has agreed to pay $162,000 to settle air quality violations that occurred at its facility in South San Francisco. The penalty resolves two notices of violation issued to Bimbo Bakeries, USA Inc. 

The Air District is upgrading the air quality advisory that was in place to Spare the Air Alerts due to heat and wildfire smoke today, Friday, August 27, and tomorrow, Saturday, August 28. The burning of wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors is prohibited.

The Air District is requesting an abatement order from the agency’s independent Hearing Board to correct air quality violations at Tesla’s electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Fremont.

The Air District announced today that it has fined Vulcan Materials Co. $228,000 for air quality violations which occurred in 2021 at Vulcan’s manufacturing plant in Pleasanton.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for this afternoon and early evening, Wednesday, July 19. Smoke from the Flat Fire in southwestern Oregon is forecast to be transported into the Bay Area this afternoon and early evening. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations, especially in the East Bay, North Bay and Santa Clara Valley regions. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District has fined the City of Berkeley $130,000 for air quality violations that occurred at its landfill site at Cesar Chavez Park in Berkeley from 2019 - 2022. 

The Air District has fined subsidiaries of Kinder Morgan, Inc., an energy infrastructure company that operates pipelines and fuel terminals throughout North America, $226,990 for air quality violations at two fuel terminals, one in Richmond and another in San Jose.
