The Air District has issued the following prescribed burn notice effective October 17 -24, 2025.

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert through Saturday, January 17, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Thursday, January 15.

The Air District has been awarded $15 million in federal grant funding to spur the creation of a more robust, accessible and equitable electric vehicle charging network across the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. 

The Air District is hosting a series of open houses to discuss the agency’s four new and amended draft petroleum refinery emissions reduction rules. Open houses will be held in Martinez on Sept, 15, Benicia on Sept. 17, and Richmond on Sept. 28. The public comment period for the rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015.

The Air District has settled 17 Notices of Violation with Valero Refining Co. for $345,000 for violations at its Benicia refinery. 

On June 17, the Air District’s Board of Directors voted to adopt a resolution condemning racism and injustice and affirming the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Saturday, July 15. High temperatures are expected to continue creating smoggy conditions.

The Air District, in cooperation with the City of South San Francisco, is hosting the Clean Cars for All electric vehicle showcase on Saturday, August 17, from 10:00 AM – 2 PM, in South San Francisco.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Tuesday, June 18, due to smoke from the Point Fire in northern Sonoma County. A Spare the Air alert remains in effect for today, Monday, June 17.

The Air District, in partnership with the Communities for a Better Environment and the East Oakland community, will convene a community steering committee kick-off meeting on Thursday, September 15, at 6 PM. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for Thursday, September 17 through Friday, September 18, due to possible smoke impacts from wildfires. There is no Spare the Air Alert in effect Thursday or Friday and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy.
