A fire has been reported at Valero in Benicia. Air District inspectors are investigating. There is potential for smoke impacts in the immediate area and downwind neighborhoods. Avoid exposure if smoke is impacting your area by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed, if temperatures allow. Follow instructions from local health officials and check back for updates. The Air District is issuing another Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Thursday, October 31, for the entire region. While good to moderate air quality is expected through most of the region tomorrow, air quality is forecast to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range in Windsor and Santa Rosa. Moderate air quality is expected throughout the rest of the North Bay with areas near the fire still impacted by unhealthy air quality. Air quality should be in the good to moderate range for the rest of the week for most of the Bay Area – which is normal this time of year.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Park Fire in Northern California for today, Sunday, July 28, and tomorrow, Monday, July 29. Smoke from the Park Fire is expected to impact air quality in parts of the Bay Area today and tomorrow. Hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible at high elevations. Air quality is expected to remain in the Good to Moderate categories on the Air Quality Index.

The Air District's Board of Directors unanimously adopted strong new provisions that will significantly improve the agency’s wood burning regulation designed to further safeguard public health against the hazards of fine particle pollution. The changes to the Air District’s wood burning regulation tighten exemptions and requirements from the original rule which was adopted in July 2008.

Beginning late Saturday, the Park Fire broke out east of Morgan Hill, and on Sunday, the larger Crews Fire started east of Gilroy. Air quality impacts are possible near the fires.
