The Air District will host an in-person conversation with Air District Board Chair Davina Hurt on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 12 – 1 PM at the San Carlos Community Library Room. The conversation will focus on community questions and concerns regarding air quality issues and climate change. 

The Air District is announcing the availability of $10 million dollars to fund equipment replacement and supportive infrastructure projects for the Proposition 1B Goods Movement Program. Funds will be used to assist owners of diesel-fueled equipment that moves freight in California’s major trade corridors. The Area Air District is issuing the season’s first and second Winter Spare the Air Alerts for today, Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

The Air District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog on Friday, June 10. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Very hot inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District is hosting a community summit on Saturday, February 16, from 10 AM–1:30 PM, at the City of Richmond Recreation Complex located at 3230 Macdonald Avenue in Richmond, to develop an air monitoring plan for the surrounding community. 

The Air District will host a public meeting session on Thursday, October 10, regarding a permit application that was filed by Radius Recycling, formerly Schnitzer Steel Products Company. Members of the public are invited to attend to learn about and comment on this permit application.
