Arieann Harrison
Arieann Harrison is the Founder and CEO of The Marie Harrison Community Foundation, Inc., a social and environmental justice organization based in San Francisco’s Bayview/Hunters Point—home to one of the nation’s largest Superfund sites.
A lifelong Bayview resident and community leader, Arieann has spent decades advocating for long-term residents who face severe health and environmental burdens caused by more than 300 toxic sites, including those tied to PG&E, Recology, San Francisco’s wastewater treatment plant, and the former U.S. Navy shipyard. These legacy pollutants have contributed to elevated rates of cancer, asthma, and respiratory illness among families in her community.
Through her foundation, Arieann educates and mobilizes residents to address the social, economic, and environmental inequities that have shaped their neighborhood. She champions community-led, science-based solutions that strengthen health, advance climate resilience, and hold institutions accountable for pollution and cleanup.
As Executive Director, Arieann oversees programs including the Community Pollution Patrol Network, the Hunters Point Biomonitoring Initiative, the Marie Harrison Community Foundation Academic Scholarship, and Solutions for Women. She also serves as a community outreach contractor for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, promoting equitable engagement and environmental justice across San Francisco.
Beyond her work with the Foundation, Arieann partners with organizations such as Hope House for Veterans and the United Council of Human Services to expand access to health, housing, and social support. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to ensuring that all Bayview residents have the right to breathe clean air, live in safe housing, and thrive in a healthy environment.
